Sleepy Saturday

So Wow! Today is the first Saturday in who-knows-how-long that I’ve been able to just kind of catch up on some R & R! I went out last night with a bunch of school peeps to celebrate the end of the semester/a friend passing his thesis defense, and just general end-of-semester goodness. It was a late night & I slept in until 9:00 this morning (for the record – that’s like a sleeping in record for me!!!)

When I awoke, I did a little light housework, then Chris & I hit up a local place called Hogie House for some lunch before hitting up Sunflower Farmers Market for groceries. The Hogie place was good. I got the Steak & Onion (with bell peppers, onion, cheese, lettuce, steak & onion). It was DELICIOUS! Chris got the Italian and it looked almost exactly like this

The place was YUM, but a little pricey for a sandwich! With our coupon, my sandwich was free – we both just drank water & didn’t get any sides, and yet for Chris’ one sandwich (a foot long), it cost $12 once tax was factored in. A lot more than Subway’s $5 foot longs, for sure, but the ingredients tasted super fresh, so that’s always good.

Got groceries, came home & took a LONG nap, played with Rocky in the yard for awhile, then went on a little bike ride around the neighborhood to test out my 2nd bike.

I have both a mountain bike and a cruiser. We acquired both really cheaply from friends and although the mountain bike was good to go (and it’s what I’ve been “driving”), the cruiser needed a lot of work to get into driving condition. We got a new chain, new tires & tubes, & Chris took it all apart, painted it, and re-assembled it all.

Today was my first time to actually test it out & although the thing looks cute, I think we’re going to try to sell it on Craigslist. I’m now used to the multiple gears on the mountain bike & it was really hard riding the cruiser – even just on the tiny hills around my area. Felt like my quads were on FIRE & I only went a couple miles! So, hopefully we’ll be able to recover the money we put into it.

After my bike ride I had a few more errands to run (bank, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc.) & now I’m contemplating what to do for dinner ~ maybe rely on the hubbs’ for cooking tonight? Maybe something quick and easy that I picked up from Trader Joe’s the other day? Tonight there’s a UFC fight (Chris is obsessed), so we’ll probably go out to see it, or order it on our TV & have some people over here. Who knows!?

It’s been nice not having to deal with a bunch of school stuff today. I’ll have to play some catch-up tomorrow though!

Hope you’re having a good weekend!

to answer your question about what brought us to Seattle: my hubby’s brother and his family live here and hubby was sick of Wisconsin. they offered to let us stay with them until we got our own place. So…here we are!
Ideally, we’ll be in Colorado in 5 years, which is where we met and married. 🙂
